Our clubhouse and radio shack is:  Hut 18,  Tilgate Recreational Centre,  Tilgate Forest,  Crawley,  West Sussex,  RH10 5PH.

From the South via the A23 (Brighton Road):

Leave the Northbound carriageway of the A23 at Junction 11 (via the Pease Pottage slip road) sign-posted A23 Crawley. Take the second exit at the roundabout – watch for the yellow sign ” Broadfield Stadium” as you go down the hill to the traffic lights taking the right hand filter lane for the K2 Sports Centre entrance. This is the entrance to the K2 Tilgate Leisure Centre. Immediately on the right before you enter K2 there is an entrance to Tilgate Park – take this road. You have the right of way at the narrow bridge but not all drivers give way!!  continue to the third right turn, where you will see signs for Huts 15 to 18. Turn right up the slope and Hut 18  is the second hut on the right hand side. In daytime the antenna mast and aerials are easy to see. There is only limited parking on the hard-standing areas. However there is more parking at the foot of the slope on the north side of the access road.

From the North via M23:

Leave the M23 at Junction 11 (via the Pease Pottage slip road), turning right over the motorway and take the third exit signposted A23 Crawley. Watch for the yellow sign ” Broadfield Stadium”. Down the hill to the traffic lights, taking the right hand filter lane and turning right. This is the access to the K2 Tilgate Leisure Centre. Immediately on the right before you enter K2 there is an entrance to Tilgate Park – take this road. You have the right of way at the bridge but not all drivers give way!!  continue to the third right turn, where you will see signs for Huts 15 to 18. From Horsham via the A264:

Follow the A264 to the junction with the A23 by Cheals garden centre (watch for the yellow signs to the Broadfield stadium). Turn right (3rd exit) on the A23 southbound keeping straight on at the next roundabout by the Broadfield stadium. Turn left in 100 yards into access slip road, This is the entrance access for the K2 Tilgate Leisure Centre. Immediately on the right before you enter K2 there is an entrance to Tilgate Park – take this road. You have the right of way at the bridge but not all drivers give way!!  continue to the third right turn, where you will see signs for Huts 15 to 18. From the North via the A23 from the Horley/Gatwick direction.

Stay on the A23 Crawley ring road. When you reach the Broadfield Stadium roundabout (watch for the yellow signs) take the second exit. Keep straight on the A23 until you reach the traffic lights by the K2 Sports Centre. you need to be in the left filter lane turn left, This is the entrance for the K2 Tilgate Leisure Centre, immediately on the right before you enter K2 there is an entrance to Tilgate Park – take this road. If you have GPS the NGR reference is: TQ269345 and the postcode RH10 5PH. however this is nearer to the entrance, so you will need to go along to the third entrance, heading east then turn right up to hut 18.

Welcome to Crawley Amateur Radio Club

The Crawley Amateur Radio Club (CARC) was formed over 40 years ago and moved into its present premises Hut 18 Tilgate Forest Recreational Centre, in the early 90’s. We are an affiliated club of the RSGB. Membership, currently standing at around 55, ranges from a member in their twenties to several octogenarians. The monthly talks and presentations cater for a diversity of technical backgrounds from absolute beginners to well-qualified professional engineers. Members of note include a past President of the RSGB the late John Graham G3TR, and the late Ron Vaughan G3FRV (now VK6RV), General Manager of the RSGB in the late 60’s. Current members include Stewart Bryant, G3YSX (past President of the RSGB, and currently RSGB Chair), Caspar Pierce (Winner of the RSGB Kenwood trophy), and Eugene Sully G0VIO of Big Brother fame who does much to actively promote interest in radio communications and the Sciences in general. Crawley Amateur Radio Club Open Day!

Crawley Amateur Radio Club warmly invites you to its Amateur Radio Open Day on Saturday 25 October 2025. The event will include live demonstrations of radio equipment and digital modes, interactive activities for all ages, conversation with club members and opportunities to make contacts The Open Day is open to anyone with an interest in technology, communication or learning new skills. Drop in any time from 11am to 4pm at Crawley Amateur Radio Club, Tilgate Park, Crawley.  No booking is required.
