Welcome to CARC

If you would like to record a breif message before you leave the site then this is the place, You have two minutes in which to do it and we look forward to hearing from you.

RSGB HF Convention 2006

Christmas come but once a year and so does the RSGB HF Convention (HFC).

You can find the RSGB HFC2006 website here

Following two very successful years, the RSGB will again be hold it's premier event at the Gatwick Worth Hotel in Crawley, CARC have assisted the RSGB with the setting up of the demonstration HF station and with stewarding of the HFC on both previous occasions and it is fair to say that our involvement has been pivotal in the preparation and smooth running of HFC.

We are looking to the membership once more to help in any way they can during this high profile event.
CARC have undertaken to supply volunteer stewards to man the ticket / raffle desk on both the Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October between 08:30 and 17:00. We have also undertaken to supply stewards to the three lecture streams plus the examination room during the same periods. This means we require eight members to be on duty at any one time.

In addition we expect to provide both the CARC trailer towers in and antennas for the HF demonstration station. This will involve assembly and erection on the Friday 6th October starting from around 10am.

There will be those who are happy to participate for the whole weekend and to them thanks in advance.
I realise that many members cannot spare time on both days.
I would be delighted if you could give half a day on any of the three days (09:00 to 13:00 / 13:00 to 17:00) to help in this event.

Q. What's in it for me ??? (I hear you cry.) . . . . . Answer:

  1. Free entry to one of the world's foremost HF DX conventions.

  2. Top DX operators, dxpeditioners and contest operators from all the continents of the world in attendance.

  3. The chance to listen to lectures (as stewards) covering all aspects of radio (see HFC programme on the website).

  4. CARC get a donation from the RSGB for our services. This keeps our fees low and our club running.

  5. A free RSGB T shirt if you commit your time in advance. If you ask nicely you may be able to keep you Steward badge!!!!

  6. The chance to win an IC7000 in the raffle. Great odds as only those who attend can buy a ticket.

  7. Operate a top class HF transceiver. (Worth more than my new car! )

We will of course do our level best to let you go where your interest lies in terms of lectures etc.

Those of you who were involved in last year's event (I was not due to family reasons) may have been aware some issues between CARC and the RSGB, These caused some annoyance at the time but did not distract our members from preforming superbly. Rest assured that there will be no repeat of those problems, the RSGB are clear on our role.

RSVP to this email address or catch me at the club most Wednesday's.

73's and Thanks.
